Personal Care Services can often be a key component to enabling someone to continue to live with independence in their own home and to enjoying a full life in their familiar surroundings. We understand that In-Home Care is a very personal choice for our clients and respect individual preferences and wishes in how they would like to receive the care.
Through our comprehensive caregiver matching program we ensure the best fit of caregiver for each client. This is based on a multi-faceted approach that includes skills, personality and other factors that we determine during the care assessment. Our staff has decades of experience in caring for our client population and they bring this broad experience to bear with care, diligence, professionalism and compassion to each assessment. They then carefully select a handful of caregivers for you to meet and get to know before the start of care.
When we say "partnership", we mean it and put it to practice in each step of the services that you receive.
Our caregivers are the most experienced and professional care professionals in the industry! We take great care to ensure that they have many years of experience in caregiving, have the compassion and desire to serve our clients and bring professionalism to their work. We are committed to the safety of all our clients and towards this end we conduct a comprehensive background check which includes fingerprint testing.
Our Professional Care Aides (PCAs) can provide all of the following Personal Care Services. Personal Care Services can include one or several Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) to support independence and wholesome living in one's own home.
Note that our Personal Care Services include all the Home Companion services as well as the following additional services:
Bathing
When your loved one needs assistance with bathing, our Professional Care Aide will be available to help. They can bathe your loved one including shampooing their hair and providing hair care. Bathing can be provide either in a shower or if you loved one is unable to get into a shower then our PCAs are skilled to provide bed showers as well.
Toileting, Incontinence Care
Should there be an accident or your loved one is unable to go to the toilet, then our Professional Care Aides will be able to provide incontinence care. Our PCAs are skilled in all aspects of pericare for incontinence including personal hygiene and skin care. Our PCAs are attentive to the needs to replace bed linen and change undergarments to maintain a hygienic and wholesome personal environment for our clients. Good skin care is a vital part of wellness for our clients, and incontinence that is not supported in a timely manner can often be the cause for issues with skin health. Our PCAs know to watch for skin health signs and can catch any breakout situations or infections early and bring them to your attention so that preventative actions can be taken in a timely manner. Care for incontinence is something that we consider as a very important part of the relationship between our clients and our PCAs.
Dressing
Whether it is simple assistance with balance or complete help with dressing or undressing, our PCA will help your loved one get dressed and be ready for the day!
Grooming
Our PCA will help with basic grooming, trimming facial hair with electric trimmer, shaving with electric razor, grooming hair and nails.
Transferring
Transferring is the process of moving someone with limited mobility from bed to wheelchair/couch/chair or other seating devices and vice versa. If your loved one is unable to move without assistance either due to weakness or due to a conditions that limits their mobility then our Professional Care Aides can perform the transferring. Safety is a critical consideration required during transfers to ensure the wellness of the client as well as the PCA. Our PCAs are skilled care professionals with extensive experience in the various safe transferring techniques and will assist your loved one in and out of bed, into and out of the shower, to and from the bathroom, in and out of chair or wheelchair, in and out of a car. Our PCAs are also qualified to use various transferring and lifting equipment such as hoyer lifts, transfer boards and gait belts.
Feeding
If your loved one requires assistance with feeding then our PCAs can feed them using safe techniques. Our Professional Care Aides are familiar with how to safely guide food into the mouth, different forms of food and hazards such as choking that can occur during feeding.
Special Personal Care Situations
We also have qualified and experienced Professional Care Aides to provide home care assistance in a variety of situations requiring personal care, such as care for colostomy bags, external catheters, feeding tubes and many other special care situations.
